These 10 Alberta cities have the best work-life balance in the province

If you're tired of work, you might want to look at the Alberta cities with the best work-life balance.

Real estate publication Point2 analyzed data on Canada's 100 largest cities to determine the best work-life balance based on 30 key metrics.

Metrics range from hours of operation to affordable healthcare professionals, commuting and affordability, including after-tax income, rent and utilities.

It may come as no surprise to learn that the province's two largest cities made the list, but they aren't number one.

Strathcona County, less than 30 minutes from Edmonton, topped the list and even made a significant splash across the country. It just made the list of the 50 best municipalities for work-life balance in Canada, ranking 50th.

Point2 cites several factors for this, such as Strathcon County's high crime rate, one of the highest after-tax median household incomes ($105,000), and more than 85% of residents spending less than 30% of their income on housing. expenses.

Calgary ranked fifth on the list of Alberta cities, beating out Edmonton, which landed in eighth place.

According to Point2, which has bragging rights for the quality of life of Calgary and area residents, “About 66% of local residents in Airdrie and Calgary say their health is good or excellent.”

Lethbridge may be in last place, but it still has some special qualities.

“For professionals who prioritize affordable rent as an important aspect of work-life balance, Lethbridge, AB has the lowest cost of living for rent. Rents in Lethbridge average $1,125, a stark comparison to the $4,000 to $5,000 range common in cities like Toronto or Vancouver.”

Looking at the rest of the country, Quebec, Ontario and British Columbia ranked in the top 10 in Canada for having the best work-life balance. Lévis, Quebec City is in first place with a total score of 69.61.
