Police have released a photo of the Bridgeland hit-and-run suspect

Calgary police have released a photo of a man they believe was responsible for a hit-and-run crash with a pedestrian last month.

Emergency crews responded to a gas station parking lot near Memorial Drive NE and 4th Street NE in Bridgeland on April 27 around 2:45 p.m.

Investigators believe the minivan pulled forward and left the parking lot before turning north onto NE 4th Street while the pedestrian fell and lay in the lot.

According to police, after running over a man with the front wheels of a van, the driver stopped and opened the door to look around. He then closed the door and ran back over the walker on his rear wheels.

Investigators say the driver may not have been aware he had hit someone.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious injuries. In an update, police said the victim was in critical but stable condition.

In an update Wednesday, police describe the driver as a man between 20 and 25 years old with a thin build and short black hair. He was last seen wearing a black and white Nike hoodie.

Formerly the police posted a security photo of the van they are believed to be involved in the accident. The vehicle is described as an older model Honda Odyssey.
