Mark Villani | CTV News

Mark Villani joined the CTV Calgary team in January 2018 as a midday morning reporter for CTV Morning Live and CTV News.

Since returning to his hometown, Mark has specialized in bringing breaking news to waking Calgarians every day. He's the first on the scene and the first to give you the facts you need to know.

Based in Calgary, Mark provided in-depth coverage of Alberta politics in the 2019 provincial election and continues to report extensively on the Trans Mountain Pipeline as western correspondent for CTV News Channel and Business News Network.

Mark has experience handling high-profile court cases, including the Edward Downey trial and the death of former Calgary Stampeder Mylan Hicks. He is a regular at City Hall, covering Calgary's 2018 Olympic plebiscite, the drinking water fluoride debate and Calgary's property tax crisis for local businesses.

In addition to his passion for innovation, Mark loves sports and can be found at many of Calgary's running trails for the next big marathon. In 2018, he put his body to the test and found out how far the human body can be pushed in the CTV documentary Off the Wall.

Born in Edmonton and raised in Calgary, he began his career at age 17 as a freelance reporter for the Calgary Sun. He then moved on to work as an overnight anchor/reporter at CFFR 660 News while attending journalism school.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Communications with Honors from the University of Calgary and a Diploma in Broadcast News from SAIT. During his time at SAIT, Mark received the Governor's All-Academic Bronze Medal for the highest grade point average among the school's students.

After graduating in April 2016, Mark began working full-time as a video journalist at CKPG News in Prince George. She then joined CTV Saskatoon in February 2017, working as a reporter/anchor before returning to her hometown.

In her spare time, she enjoys volunteering and spending time with family and friends. Mark is an avid Toronto Maple Leafs and New York Jets fan who can only be described as a love/hate relationship. Marc speaks English and has recently started learning French.
