A serial killer who admitted to searching the Internet for clues to serial killers has been heard in a Winnipeg court

WINNIPEG – The court of a man who confessed to killing four women has heard he searched the Internet to find a definition of what it means to be a serial killer.

Winnipeg police say other online searches found on Jeremy Skibicki's laptop were for DNA and fingerprint removal.

Riley Johansson said she monitored online searches on Skibicki's computer for months.

Skibicki was charged with first-degree murder in the 2022 deaths of four local women.

He has confessed to the murder, but his lawyers say he will not face criminal charges because of his mental illness.

Crown prosecutors say the killings were racially motivated and that Skibicki preyed on homeless women.
