A Manitoba woman has been charged with theft and stalking a septic truck

It could have been a really big mess, but police say a Manitoba woman was uninjured after she stole a septic truck and at one point drove into an oncoming vehicle with pursuing officers.

RCMP in Ste Rose du Lac, Man., said they received a report Monday morning that the truck had been stolen from the Ebb and Flow First Nation and was last seen on Provincial Road 278.

An officer on his way to the call saw the truck go through a stop sign where the road meets Highway 68 and tried to stop it, but the truck continued down the highway to Ste. Rose du Lac drove erratically and crossed into the oncoming lane.

Police said emergency services were called to an oncoming vehicle, and several drivers drove the truck off the road, but there was no crash and no one was injured.

The officers buckled up and the truck went into a ditch, and police say the female driver of the septic tank and the lone occupant fled on foot.

She didn't get far, and police say the 29-year-old Dauphin woman has been charged with carjacking, fleeing police and dangerous driving.

He was released from custody.

The septic tank was found by staff from Ebb and Flow First Nation.
