A Calgary paramedic was injured while on call in Auburn Bay

A Calgary paramedic was injured in the line of duty on Tuesday.

EMS crews say they responded to a report of a patient in Auburn Bay around noon.

The paramedic who tried to help the patient was injured with a knife.

The injured paramedic was still able to provide treatment before being treated in hospital for minor injuries.

The original patient was transported to the hospital in critical but stable condition by a second EMS crew with a police escort.

Police are continuing to investigate.
