Victoria Day 2024 in Calgary: Open and Closed

Calgary Transit

Calgary Transit says buses, CTrains and On Demand service will operate with Sunday service levels on Victoria Day (Monday, May 20).

From Saturday, May 18 until the early morning hours of Tuesday, May 21, 2024, all downtown stations along Seventh Avenue will be closed, as well as Victoria Park/Stamped Station and several surrounding stations. The shutdown affects the red and blue lines.

Calgary Parking

On Victoria Day, there will be free parking in on-street ParkPlus areas.

Weekend rates apply to all parking and surface lots in Calgary.

Regular parking rates are available at Telus Spark, University District, Calgary Zoo and Heritage Park.


Polygons

The East Calgary landfill will be open Friday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the Spyhill landfill and Shepard landfill will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On Saturday, all three are open from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m

Only the East Calgary Landfill is open on Sundays – 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

On Victoria Day, the Calgary East Range will be open from 6am to 5pm, and the Spyhill and Shepard Ranges will be open from 7:30am to 5pm.


Recreation centers

All arenas in the City of Calgary, as well as the Calgary Soccer Center, will be closed on Victoria Day.

Normal working hours of these facilities will resume from May 21.

Southland Leisure Center opening hours:

  • Friday: 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. (facility and weight room) and 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (pool and steam room);
  • Saturday: 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (facility and weight room) and 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (pool and steam room);
  • Sunday: 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (facility and weight room) and 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (pool and steam room); and,
  • Victoria Day: Closed.


Opening hours of the recreation center on the village square

  • Friday: 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. (facility and weight room) and 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. (pool and steam room);
  • Saturday: 8 am to 6 pm (facility and weight room) and 10 am to 6 pm (pool and steam room);
  • Sunday: 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (facility and weight room) and 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. (pool and steam room); and,
  • Victoria Day: Closed


Calgary City Centers for the Arts

Wildflower Arts Center and North Mount Pleasant Arts Center will be closed on Victoria Day


Devon Gardens

Located in the Core Shopping Centre, Devonian Gardens is open on Fridays from 10am to 6pm, Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 6pm and Victoria Day from noon to 5pm.


Heritage Park

Heritage Park Historic Village opens for the season at noon Friday.

It will then be open from 10am to 5pm daily from Saturday until the opening hours change in the autumn.

Petrol Alley is open on Fridays from 12:00 to 17:00 and then from Saturday 10:00 to 17:00 every day.


Telus Spark

Telus Spark is open from 9am to 7pm on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, then 9am to 4pm on Victoria Day.


Wilder Institute/Calgary Zoo

The zoo is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with last admission at 4 p.m. for non-members and at 5 p.m.
