Quebec inmate injured in 'major attack' at Port Cartier Institution – Winnipeg Free Press

MONTREAL – The Correctional Service of Canada says an inmate was injured in a major attack at the Port Cartier facility on Quebec's north shore.

The federal agency said the injured inmate was taken to a hospital for treatment.

It said the attacker had been identified and action taken, but did not elaborate.

Quebec provincial police are also investigating Sunday's alleged attack.

The Correctional Service of Canada considers safety a top priority and reviews the circumstances surrounding the assault to prevent future incidents.
