Mom finds a sewing needle in the chocolate

Calgary police are investigating reports of candy tampering in the Panorama Hills community.

A Calgary woman told police Wednesday night that she found a sewing needle inside the wrapped chocolate her son took during a trick-or-treating Monday night.

The woman reported this to the police on Thursday. The child did not eat the candy and was not injured.

Police believe the boy took candy from at least 100 homes and have not been able to determine where the candy came from. They are trying to find out if it was intentional or not.

As a public service, police recommend the following: Parents should check their children before allowing them to eat candy. Also, check the candy wrappers for holes, tears, holes, or signs that they have been opened and then rewrapped.

Throw away any candy you don't recognize or think is suspicious.
