Winnipeg man, 25, charged in Canada Day stabbing

A 25-year-old Winnipeg man has been charged with second-degree murder after stabbing another 25-year-old man to death on Canada Day.

Police have identified the victim as Tanner Roland Beaulieu of Winnipeg.

Another man was also stabbed, but his condition was not immediately available.

The stabbings happened around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday on Main Street near Broadway, as thousands of people were celebrating Canada Day in nearby Forks.

According to the police, the two victims were walking in the area with two other people when they got into a fight with another group of six people.

The suspect who was with the second group then stabbed the victims.

The 25-year-old accused is also charged with attempted murder.

He is detained in the regional detention center.
