WestJet has launched its first flight from Calgary to Seoul

WestJet service to Seoul will operate three times a week on the airline's 787 Dreamliner until October 27, 2024, and will return in spring 2025.

The Alberta-South Korea connection

The new direction comes as South Korea remains one of the main sources of international students in Canada. Alberta also has strong trade links with many countries in the Indo-Pacific region.

With three flights a week and a cargo capacity of 60 tons to and from South Korea, WestJet also says it delivers efficient cargo solutions.

“WestJet's new service to Seoul will inspire Canadians to explore their horizons in South Korea with the comfort of flying with a familiar airline. We've gone above and beyond to ensure all guests have a superior onboard experience, including introducing a Western and Korean option. In-flight meals, Korean entertainment entertainment options and on-board Korean announcements,” Weatherill said.

Guests also have access to six additional cities in four Asian countries Incheon International Airport (ICN) through WestJet's codeshare agreement with Korean Airlines.

WestJet's service to Seoul is one of many transoceanic services available this summer.

Guests departing from WestJet's Calgary hub can connect to Tokyo and seven European destinations as part of the airline's robust international offerings.

Earlier this month, WestJet revealed plans to shift its seasonal service between Calgary and Tokyo to an annual cadence.
