The United States beat Kazakhstan 10-1 at the World Hockey Championship – Winnipeg Free Press

PRAGUE (AP) — Captain Brady Tkachuk scored three power-play goals and added an assist to help the United States beat Kazakhstan 10-1 at the World Ice Hockey Championship on Sunday.

His fourth win lifted the Americans into second place in Group B with 13 points, one ahead of Germany in Tuesday's preliminary round game against Latvia.

Johnny Gaudreau scored 43 points to become the United States' all-time leading scorer, one more than Patrick Kane.

Matt Baldy had two goals and four assists, Brock Nelson and Luke Kunin each had a goal and an assist, and Gavin Brindley and Kevin Hayes also scored.

Alex Nedelkovic made 13 saves.

In a four-goal opening period, Tkatchuk put the USA up 2-0 on Zach Werenski and made it 4-0 on the power play.

He completed his hat trick and extended the lead to 8-0 in the final period with a power play shot from just outside the right circle.

Alikhan Omirbekov scored a consolation goal when the national team of Kazakhstan lost 9:0.
