Manitoba Elections: Webb Kinew Announces Tuxedo Election

Winnipeggers in Tuxedo County will head to the polls next month.

Prime Minister Wab Kinew announced on Monday that the region will hold a run-off election on June 18.

He replaces former premier and MP Heather Stefansson, who stepped down on May 6.

This constituency has always belonged to the Progressive Conservatives, led by former Prime Minister and party leader Gary Philmon from 1981 to 2000.

Stefanson then won the regional in 2000.

There are currently 34 NDP MLAs, 21 PCs, one independent Liberal and one vacancy in the Manitoba legislature.
