Manitoba Weather: Expect severe thunderstorms in the southwest

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) says severe thunderstorms are possible on Friday, less than a day after thunderstorms brought hail, strong winds and tornado warnings to Manitoba.

The ECCC has issued a severe thunderstorm advisory for many communities in western Manitoba, including Brandon, Neipawa and Dauphin.

“Conditions are favorable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may produce strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain,” the ECCC said. “Thunderstorms will develop across southeastern Saskatchewan and southwestern Manitoba this afternoon, some of which may be severe.”

The ECCC also added that there is a possibility of an “isolated tornado” from the storm.

Residents are warned to keep an eye on the sky and stay indoors during thunderstorms.
