A crash on Lower Springbank Road has killed an elderly man

A 75-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash west of Calgary on Thursday, according to RCMP.

The collision happened at Lower Springbank Road and Township Road 242 around 3 p.m

The incident caused a road closure; Motorists were asked to avoid the area.

RCMP said in an update Friday morning that the road had reopened.

According to the investigators, the cause of the accident was that the motorcyclist tried to overtake the car and then reconnected and cut off the same car.

The accident caused the motorcyclist to lose control of the vehicle.

RCMP say the victim is from Rocky View County.
