Winnipeg court to hear ex-partner of confessed serial killer

The ex-wife of a confessed serial killer is expected to testify in a Winnipeg courtroom today.

The woman obtained a protective order against Jeremy Skibicki in 2019 after he allegedly stalked and sexually assaulted him.

Skibicki is on trial on four counts of first-degree murder for the murders of four local women.

His lawyers said he committed the killings in 2022 but will not face criminal charges due to mental illness.

Crown prosecutors say the killings were racially motivated and that Skibicki preyed on homeless women.

A shelter worker said Skibicki went there once to find a victim.

Skibicki was named the Buffalo Woman by local leaders accused of killing Rebecca Contois, Morgan Harris, Marcedes Mayran and an unidentified woman.
