Tornado warnings end south of Winnipeg

Severe thunderstorms continued Thursday evening across southern Manitoba, with tornado warnings issued for several areas.

The first tornado warning was issued at 7:50 p.m. by Environment Canada meteorologists near Riverside, Man., northwest of Morris.

Several other warnings quickly emerged over the next hour as supercell storms moved quickly through the region.

Weather forecasters said during the warnings that the storms may have produced tornadoes, but no tornadoes have yet been confirmed.

As of 8:48 p.m., Emerson, Man. The last tornado warning for the community has ended.

Several areas of Winnipeg earlier in the afternoon was badly damaged by storms produces hail, heavy rain and strong winds. Lawns and roads turned white as the storm rose.

More rain is expected overnight in Winnipeg and much of the Red River Valley. Environment Canada says thunderstorms could return Friday afternoon. You can find full Here's a seven-day forecast and weather radar.
