Severe thunderstorm warnings move east and end in Winnipeg

The first severe thunderstorm warning of the season has ended for Winnipeg, but areas to the east can expect warnings as storms move quickly toward Ontario.

Just after 4:30 p.m., the City of Winnipeg was alerted. The storm quickly passed through the city with strong winds. Residents of the district sent a message describes hard hail It was so strong that it peeled off the paint on the windows and covered the ground with hail. The warning ended at 5:30 p.m

Environment Canada issued an alert for Rosser RM and the surrounding area around 3:20 p.m. RM neighbors Winnipeg to the northwest of the city. Meteorologists say the storm is expected to pack winds of 90 km/h and bring nickel-sized hail. This alert ended at 4:24 p.m

As of 5:39 PM CDT, Environment Canada meteorologists are monitoring a severe thunderstorm that could produce strong wind gusts, hail and heavy rain.

This severe thunderstorm is near Ile des Chenes, moving southeast at 15 km/h.

Danger: Tuni-sized hail and wind gusts of 90 km/h.

Affected locations include:
Linden.

Heavy downpours can cause flooding and water logging on roads. Large hail can cause property damage and injury. Strong gusts of wind can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break tree limbs, and overturn large vehicles. Remember that severe thunderstorms can lead to tornadoes.
