One person was killed in a motorcycle crash west of Calgary

One person was killed in a motorcycle crash in west Calgary Thursday afternoon.

Emergency crews were called to the crash at Lower Springbank Road and Township Road 242, west of Stony Trail, around 3:30 p.m.

Emergency responders told CityNews that one person was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Lower Springbank Road is closed in both directions and motorists are asked to avoid the area. Police say they expect road closures to remain in place for some time.

Cochrane RCMP say the investigation is ongoing.
