Human remains found near Delia, Alta.: RCMP

Police are investigating after human remains were found in rural southern Alberta earlier this month.

In a news release Thursday, RCMP said the remains were discovered May 5 by a hiker in a rural area south of Delia, Alta.

The bones were collected and taken to the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary, who confirmed that the remains were human.

Police contacted an anthropologist to identify the remains.

Delia is located approximately 180 kilometers northeast of Calgary.
