Flames guard Hunter Brzhustewicz sign

The Calgary Flames have signed prospect Hunter Brzhustevic to an entry-level contract.

The Flames acquired the 19-year-old defenseman in January in a trade that sent Elias Lindholm to the Vancouver Canucks.

On Thursday morning, the team announced a three-year, entry-level deal with an AAV of $950,000.

Brustevich, of Rochester, Mich., had 12 goals and 73 assists for 85 points in 62 games with the Kitchener Rangers of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL).

He led the league in scoring, tied for ninth among OHL skaters.

“Hunter is the player we wanted this draft year and is having another great season in Kitchener this year,” Flames general manager Craig Conroy said.

“He moves well and sees the ice with great vision and hockey sense. As a right-back, Hunter provides us with a highly valued skill set.”

Brustevich was originally drafted by the Canucks in the third round of the 2023 NHL Draft.
