Celebrating Five Lives, Living Over 500 Years – Winnipeg Free Press

Lily Huberman has celebrated more than 100 birthdays, but none more special than the one she celebrated this year with Winnipeg's other four centenarians.

Seniors were able to share their accomplishments at an evening held Thursday at the Saul and Claribel Simkin Center.

“I'm surrounded by my loved ones here and I'm so blessed and honored to be surrounded by such beautiful, wonderful people,” Huberman said as dozens of her friends and compatriots gathered to celebrate. care home.

Born in Winnipeg and raised by a single mother, Huberman turned 102 in January.

Dressed in a blue jacket trimmed with white corsage, she shared her life's stories and advice, including the key to making it through her age.

“The secret is to get through the 101,” he laughed.

Jokingly, Huberman said, “I learned to be generous, kind, happy and very grateful.”
