A petition has been started over CCSD's hour change

Reaction to a story Thursday by CTV News about the Calgary Catholic School District's (CCSD) plans to change classroom hours one day a week was swift.

The petition, which was launched on Friday, had 3,400 signatures as of 9 a.m. Monday.

It is asking the Calgary Catholic School District to reconsider its plan to start school one day a week late in September.

Classes start at 11am or noon on Mondays or Wednesdays, depending on the school and its current start time.

The date has not yet been decided.

This is being done in order to give teachers more time to improve their qualifications.

Students must still allocate the same number of hours of school time each week.

The online counseling process will end on December 11.

The actual calendar for the next academic year will be announced in January.
