A 22-year-old man has been charged with sexually assaulting two teenage girls in Winnipeg

A 22-year-old Winnipeg man has been charged in two separate incidents of sexually assaulting teenage girls in the city, police say.

According to a press release from Winnipeg police, the man, posing as a 17-year-old boy, used social media to contact and recruit victims between March and April 2024.

He gained the trust of teenage girls, established relationships and then sexually assaulted them, police said.

Investigators identified the man and arrested him on Tuesday. He is accused of sexual violence, sexual intercourse and deception.

The investigation is ongoing, but the man has been released from custody under a court order banning him from having contact with anyone under the age of 18.

Anyone with information or who would like to speak with an investigator is asked to call the Sex Crimes Unit at 204-986-6245.

Anonymous tips can be submitted to Crime Stoppers by calling 204-786-TIPS (8477) or online through the agency's website.
