WINNIPEG – Several police officers were attacked Sunday while trying to arrest a drunk man.

Around 3:20 p.m., police were called to a home in the 300 block of Boyd Avenue where the suspect had gotten into a fight with a family member.

As the officers separated the parties, the suspect immediately confronted the officers as he approached them. As police tried to get the man under control, he began attacking officers, including disarming one officer with a Taser and biting two officers on the upper body, while repeatedly threatening to kill them.

He was eventually taken into custody before being taken to hospital where he was sedated due to his level of intoxication. Later, he was checked by the police and underwent a medical examination.

Three officers were injured in the incident, two of whom were hospitalized.
