The warmest weekend of the year is just around the corner for Calgary

Finally, Calgarians can look forward to sunshine just around the corner for the warmest weekend of the year.

With a high of 25°C expected on Sunday, patio season may finally heat up.

Terry Lang with Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) told Daily Hive that those estimates may be a bit optimistic, but it will still be the hottest weekend of 2024.

“25°C may be a bit optimistic, but low to mid 20s certainly looks realistic.”

By the time we get to that altitude, the province will see a lot of rain, which is good news for a drought-ridden region.

“Major irrigation is underway across much of Alberta this week. It will be a drought, not a drought, but a drought. This will help a lot because the predicted amount of rainfall is quite important.”

While that won't stop the drought, knowing that rain is on the way will help ease the worries of many locals. So, break out your sun hats and don't worry about the warm temperatures this weekend.
