Police charge Winnipeg man with manslaughter nearly two years after shooting woman

Almost two years after a Winnipeg woman was shot and died from her injuries, police have charged a 49-year-old man with first degree murder.

On November 12, 2022, at approximately 5:20 a.m., Winnipeg Police responded to a report of an injured female on William Avenue.

Patrol officers found that 23-year-old Delaney Nora Desmarais had been shot in the upper body.

He was taken to hospital in critical condition but died from his injuries.

In March 2024, an arrest warrant was issued for Clinton Desmond Bignell.

On May 1, officers tracked down Bignell in the area of ​​Furby Street and Cumberland Avenue and he was arrested.

Bignell was charged with manslaughter and multiple firearms charges.

None of the charges in court have been proven.
