Earl Moberg: Family continues to search for missing brother

Community members gathered on Sunday to scour wooded areas and residential roads in search of an elderly man who has been missing since late last year.

Earl Moberg, 81, was last seen on December 12 in the East River area.

According to his family and friends, he is in the advanced stages of dementia and may have become lost while walking.

Nearly five months after she disappeared, her daughter, Britt Moberg, is asking the public to help find her.

“It was not found,” he said. “It's been a few months and we're hoping that it's spring and there are more people that we can find at this point.

Britt said she was touched by all the people who helped her find her father, as well as the people who shared stories about family members with dementia.

“It gave me strength to come out here and see people come out on Sunday and help look for my dad,” she said. “I know they're here because they're thinking about their loved ones, too.”

Britt said he contacted the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority and asked for a serious incident investigation.

He said he is doing this because he believes situations like his father's can be avoided with timely and appropriate support.

“There's definitely more to be done,” he said. “I think prevention is very important.”

Earle is described as five foot seven with a medium build, short white hair and a white beard. He was wearing a dark blue or green parka when he disappeared.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Bear Clan or Winnipeg police.
