Chelsea Davidenas' remains are at Calgary Police Station

Calgary police say the body of homicide victim Chelsea Davidenas has been found.

The 29-year-old woman is believed to have been murdered after she disappeared in February.

Police allege Davidenas was lured to a home in the 5600 block of Rundlehorn Drive NE in the early morning hours of Feb. 17 by two men he knew.

Investigators believe she was killed inside the home.

After narrowing the search, search and rescue crews found human remains on Thursday near Highway 254 and Highway 901, northeast of Carseland, Alta., police said.

The village of Carseland is located 35 kilometers east of Calgary.

The medical examiner confirmed that the remains were indeed Davidenas.

Steven Aaron Zwick, 26, and Paul Joseph Rushton, 52, both of Airdrie, are charged with first-degree murder.

Police said at a news conference Wednesday that Zwick and Davidenas had a “previous relationship.”

They also say the two men targeted Davidenas because of her history as a sex worker.

Police are searching a large area southeast of Chestermere for the body of Chelsea Davidenas, a woman who was killed in February at her Calgary home.Both men have “extensive” criminal histories, Alberta Justice said.

Court records show Rushton was jailed for eight months after pleading guilty under the Penal Code to making a visual recording of a person secretly observing or having an expectation of privacy.

In addition, Zwick's court records show that he is charged with drug and weapons offenses, resisting a peace officer and assault.

In a social media post Thursday night, Davidenas' mother, Tammy Woods, thanked police for their efforts in the search and others for their kind words.

“Chelsea was taken from us too early. We miss our daughter, sister, mother, friend. As we mourn this unimaginable loss, Chelsea's spirit and memory will live on in our hearts forever. May you rest in peace, my beautiful daughter,” said the message.
