Calgary Weather: Warm for the winter solstice

So far, it hasn't been like December, and we're starting the first official day of winter with warm weather.

As the sun rises after 8:30am on Thursday, we will be at 1C and warm to at least 7C during the day. The sun will bring plenty of sunshine and some cloudy periods.

The holiday forecast also looks bleak – for the most part.

Warm weather is expected again on Thursday and Friday. An upper-level trough will move in late Friday, allowing cooler air to move in from the north on Saturday and Sunday.

This will also give a good chance for flow Friday night into Saturday night as temperatures drop and control moisture from the Pacific Ocean from the west.

1 to 3 inches of snow is possible Friday night into Saturday afternoon. Chinook terms start on Christmas Day.
