Calgary Flames 3-2 Coyotes

Egor Sharangovic scored a power play goal in overtime to give the Calgary Flames a 3-2 win over the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday night.

The Coyotes were penalized for too many men at 3:03 in OT. Sharangovich, acquired last summer from the New Jersey Devils for Tyler Toffoli, made a sharp-angled shot with 17 seconds left in overtime.

“Anger. He's one of those guys, all he needs is one and he made it count,” Flames winger Blake Coleman said.

Coleman scored his team-high 20th goal and fifth in four games, while Nazem Kadri had a goal and an assist for the Flames in their fourth straight win. Dan Vladar made 25 saves.

Sean Durzi had a goal and an assist and Logan Cooley scored for the Coyotes, who took a 2-0 lead early in the third period. Connor Ingram stopped 27 shots in the loss.

“We played a really solid game,” Arizona coach Andre Turinni said. “If you look at scoring opportunities, pace of play, possession, it's a good team at the other end and I think we played one of our most complete games.”

The Flames were without winger Jonathan Huberdeau (illness) and also called up goaltender Dustin Wolff from the AHL Wranglers after Jacob Markstrom was announced with a lower-body injury.

Calgary's power play, which was among the worst in the NHL and went 0-for-4 in regulation, was successful in OT. The Coyotes were 1-for-3.

The Coyotes took a 2-0 lead on Cooley's power-play goal at 6:37 of the third period. Durzi's shot deflected off Cooley's finger in the crease.

But Calgary managed to score a couple of goals in 63 seconds. Coleman scored his 20th goal and his team's fifth in four games at 8:54 by redirecting Rasmus Andersson's feed off the goal line.

Kadri extended his scoring streak to seven games at the 9:57 mark by knocking in a one-handed pass from Martin Pospisil.

After a scoreless first period, Durzi scored at 8:20 of the second period to give Arizona an early lead.

The Vlads had an otherwise strong second period.

He blocked four shots in one minute during Arizona's power play, stopped Cooley on a layup and denied Jason Zucker a good chance.

“I speak for a lot of us, I just didn't have any energy tonight and it just wasn't there. Vladdy gave us a chance to hang out,” Coleman said. “We talked about it between periods. No matter how we felt, we couldn't let him go.”
