A pedestrian is in hospital after being hit by a car in northeast Calgary

A 68-year-old woman is in Foothills Hospital with life-threatening injuries after being hit by a large truck at a northeast Calgary intersection.

It happened on a Saturday afternoon around 4:13 p.m.

A woman was crossing 16 Avenue NE when she was hit by a Kenworth construction truck, police said.

He was heading south on Edmonton Trail when he turned west on 16th Avenue and collided with a woman.

The truck's 46-year-old driver and 42-year-old passenger were uninjured and remained at the scene.

Alcohol, drugs, or excessive speed are not considered factors in these crashes.
