The energy in the arena shifted at this point and Boston had a golden opportunity for Muller's brace, but it was blocked. Then, in the waning minutes, Kali Fratkin hit a playoff clicker.

PWHL Boston finished 3rd in the leagueand compete for the Walter Cup!

Game notes

  • Magic number: 0 Elimination number: Not required. What was once a painful long shot from an embarrassingly slow start is now a reality; The PWHL will compete for the Boston Walter Cup.
  • It was an erudite night of scoring for the Green and Gray as Boston had goals from a number of NCAA alumni: Muller (Northeastern), Keller (BC), Fratkin (BU) and Knight (Wisconsin) were big contributors to last night's win.
  • Aerin Frankel was a brick wall in the first two periods and would have ended the night with a shutout if Boston hadn't started committing some dumb penalties that led to a pair of Mikayla Grant-Mentis. Might have to work on that for the playoffs.
  • Tomorrow's Ottawa game won't factor into the playoffs for Boston; because Toronto picks their opponent, so the third or fourth seed doesn't matter. Ottawa will be eliminated without a regulation win if that happens…Minnesota's season will end in a heartbeat after leading the league for nearly half a year.
  • We'll wait for Toronto to decide who they'll play, while the other team gets Montreal.
