Raleigh's 9th inning homer gives Mariners 5-4 win over Astros – Winnipeg Free Press

HOUSTON (AP) – Cal Reilly hit a tiebreaking solo home run in the ninth to lead the Seattle Mariners to a 5-4 win over the Houston Astros on Sunday.

Raleigh sent an 0-2 pitch from Josh Hader (1-3) to Crawford in left field with one out in the ninth. Luis Urias tied it at four in the eighth on an RBI single.

Raleigh said he was looking for a fastball and he got one.

“I was totally looking for a heater and just adjusting to anything,” he said. “He played two good games before that. I did not deviate from my plan. He left it in the middle of the plate and I got to it.”

Hader said he tried to go up and missed.

“I didn't get my point across,” Hader said. “At the end of the day, doing your own bidding, sometimes it works for you.”

It was Raleigh's second go-ahead run of the ninth inning or later this season.

“He'll find a way,” Seattle manager Scott Servais said of Raleigh. “He usually hits the ball in the air. At the end of games, if you have the power to hit the ball in the air, good things happen.”

Andres Munoz (2-2) pitched the final 1 1/3 innings to get the win.

Seattle has won six straight.

“We're playing great,” Servais said. “I've been talking about it for the last month or so. I thought our defense really stepped up. … We're still not attacking, but we're starting to make some strides.”

John Singleton blasted a two-run homer to right field to give Houston a 4-3 lead in the seventh. Kyle Tucker took a 3-2 lead with a two-run homer to right in the sixth.

Luke Reilly led off the sixth with a solo home run into the second deck in right, and the Mariners took second on a bases-loaded walk by Urias and an RBI single by Josh Rojas. Rojas finished with three hits.

Seattle starter Bryce Miller allowed four runs on six hits with three hits in six innings.
