Narwhal ends high school badminton career on a winning note – Winnipeg Free Press

Ranya Narwal ended her Manitoba high school badminton career at the Canada Sport For Life Center on Saturday, while Anson Chen represented a budding local scene.

Winning the junior girls championship as a Grade 10 student and then the varsity title in Grade 11, Narwal refused to relinquish her crown, defeating Angela Dong 2-0 (21-6, 21-12) in her senior year. Fort Richmond College.

“I felt relieved. I wanted to finish high school (competition) well,” said 17-year-old Narwal. “I did not expect to win three times in a row. This shows that my hard work is paying off. I'm very happy with my game because I saw a lot of good players. I'm not comfortable playing with a plastic bird – I usually play with feathers – but I managed to adjust and shoot.”
