MADRID – Montreal's Felix Auger-Aliassime lost to Russia's Andrei Rublev 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 in the Madrid final on Sunday.

Rublev, the eighth-ranked player in the world, won the 11th game: first the ball hit the frame of the FAA racket, then the latter sent three consecutive shots from the lines.

In the 12th game, which began with an ace from the Quebecer, the Russian took the second set with a break 7-5.

Rublev is bidding for his second career Masters 1000 title after last year's Monte Carlo.
