Calgary weather forecast for Friday, January 6, 2023

Check the current conditions and you know it's going to be an interesting day when the marked daytime temperature is 3 C and the current temperature is 4 C; like the situation at six o'clock.

It is innocent to see such a thing; the main element was (and still is) the west wind; Yesterday I had a model predicting a gust of 50 km/h among a long line of models that kept the speed between 15-20 km/h. A completely different situation! However, the above example only applies to the west at 13 km/h; does not need much.

We will have melting temperatures for the next few days, but freezing temperatures overnight. Keep this in mind for Saturday and Sunday morning drives.

There will also be a series of westerlies returning briefly on Monday. The longer term forecast (Wednesday and beyond) shows another potential setup and significant warming on the way; I'm still not sure.
