Alisha Reynolds has been welcomed as the new CEO of Tourism Calgary

A Calgary tourism industry veteran is at the helm of Tourism Calgary.

After an extensive international search, Tourism Calgary's board of directors has selected Calgarian Alisha Reynolds as the organization's next CEO following the announcement that Cindy Adi will retire in 2023.

Reynolds comes to Tourism Calgary after serving as vice president of development at Northland Restaurant Group, which includes properties such as Moxies, Denny's Canada, Shark Club and Chop. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Sandman Hotel Group.

“We are excited to have one of the industry's rising stars join Tourism Calgary as our new CEO,” said Mark Wilson, Chair of Tourism Calgary's Board of Directors.

“In addition to an impressive resume, Alisha brings with her an infectious spirit that has earned the unanimous support of the board. With a wealth of travel business and leadership experience, an appetite for innovation and a strong vision, Alisha is poised to lead us into a new era of growth and opportunity.”

Tourism Calgary said there was a lot of interest in the search for a new CEO, and it was Reynolds' experience, talent and “blue-sky thinking” that aligned with the city's new branding that led to his appointment by the board.

Reynolds will work with Adi during the transition period until June.

“I am honored and humbled to lead Calgary's vibrant tourism industry during a monumental period of growth and opportunity,” said Reynolds.

“Calgary has endless opportunities — our world-class events, venues and attractions create unforgettable experiences for visitors. Tourism is not just an economic engine; it's a lifeline for countless businesses and a source of pride for every Calgarian. I am ready to lend my vision and energy to this dynamic landscape.”

Tourism Calgary plans to unveil a 10-year tourism strategy to support the province's goal of $25 billion in visitor spending by 2035.

Projects to be completed under Reynolds' leadership include the expansion of the BMO Center, which opens in June, as well as further development of the cultural and entertainment district, including the redevelopment of the Calgary Events Centre, Arts Commons and Olympic Plaza, and the completion of the Glenbow Museum redevelopment.
