March 14, 2013: Paul Rose dies

Paul Rose, the main figure of the October crisis in Quebec, died of a stroke.

He spent 11 years in prison for the kidnapping and murder of Quebec Labor Minister Pierre Laporte.

March 15, 1996: New Home Sweet Home

A grand parade will lead the Habs from the Forum to their new home at the Molson Center.

The team will play its first game on March 16 at the arena.

March 16, 1973: Stolen Heart

Brother André's heart was stolen from L'Oratoire Saint-Joseph du Mont-Royal and held for ransom.

The heart is removed from a Montreal apartment building 21 months later

March 17, 1955: The Richard riots begin

When NHL president Clarence Campbell showed up to a Habs game after Maurice Richard was suspended during the playoffs, the city was outraged. The incident later became known as the “Richard Riot”.

March 18, 1955: Maurice Richard asks fans to be calm

After the “Richard Riot”, Maurice Richard urges fans to stay calm and support the team in the playoffs.

March 19, 2004: Equality triumphed

Quebec became the third Canadian province to allow gay marriage.

March 20, 1995: Montrealers embrace the Irish

A St. Patrick's Day parade is taking place in the city streets. The annual event attracts hundreds of Montrealers.
