Two semis are underway in the Edmonton area following the snow

On Wednesday morning, two semis were held in and around Edmonton.

Traffic was reduced to one lane at Calgary Trail and Ellerslie Road where the first half was moving before 6:20am.

No other vehicle was involved. No injuries were reported.

Highway 16 near Range Road 212 in Strathcona County was then closed at 9 a.m. due to a rollover in the westbound lanes of Highway 16.

Mounties said there were “no serious injuries” in the incident. The highway was reopened by 11 a.m

While the Mounties did not say how the two crashes happened, they warned of poor driving conditions across the province after overnight snow and issued special traffic advisories in the Innisfail, Westlock and Calgary areas.

“Given the condition of many roads today, Alberta RCMP are advising the public to avoid travel as much as possible, and if Albertans must drive today, they are asked to plan extra time for their journeys.”
