History

The King Clancy Memorial Trophy was presented by the NHL Board of Governors in 1988 to honor Frank “King” Clancy, who was beloved for decades as a player, referee, coach, manager and goodwill ambassador to the league. A three-time Stanley Cup champion and 1958 Hockey Hall of Fame inductee, Clancy was voted one of the NHL's 100 Greatest Players in 2017 during the league's 100th anniversary.
