Canada Post is hiring 170 on-call letter carriers in Greater Montreal – no French required

Looking for a job in the Montreal area? Canada Post employs 170 on-call letter carriers (also known as delivery agents) in Greater Montreal, including downtown, South Shore, West Island, Saint-Laurent and Laval.

French is not required and you will be paid above minimum wage.

“We deliver billions of items to Canadians every year, and you can be a big part of making that happen,” Canada Post wrote in a job posting. “You will be the face of Canada Post in your community, making sure that consumers and businesses receive the mail and packages they expect.”

According to the National Postal Service, if you're someone who enjoys being outdoors year-round and is “proud to serve our fellow Canadians,” you'd be a perfect fit for this role.

The gig basically involves sorting and preparing the day's mail at the depot, loading it onto a Canada Post vehicle, and then driving and walking around to deliver most of the day. At the end of the day, you'll return to the depot and “unload the day's incoming mail and packages for later delivery,” according to the job posting.

In exchange for these tasks, you will earn $22.68 per hour.

So what qualifications are required?

You don't need French, but you need to be able to read, write and speak French or English. You must also have a valid Class 5 or G driver's license with at least three years of safe driving experience and be able to lift up to 50 pounds all day, as well as lift up to 35 pounds.

Experience in customer service, making deliveries or working as a driver is also helpful, but not required.
