Alberta has been named the best travel destination this summer

Summer is just around the corner, and while Albertans are looking for the perfect getaway, they don't have to look too far.

Airbnb has released its list of the top 10 inland travel destinations in Canada and Alberta's Kananaskis Country made it on the list!

It's the only name in Western Canada, but it's in good company among other nature-heavy regions.

Many people who travel the country seem to be looking for an escape from city life. Airbnb says searches in its National Park category are up 125% from last summer.

Other destinations listed are Blue Mountain, Ontario; La Haute-Gaspésie, Quebec; Quebec City, Quebec; Mont-Tremblant, Quebec; Dieppe, New Brunswick; Hubbards, Nova Scotia; St. Catharines, Ontario; Gander, Newfoundland and Labrador; and Edmundston, New Brunswick.

The company also tracked which international destinations are of interest to Canadians this year.

Italy seems to be number one, with Italian cities making up half of the list. Rome, Monopoli, Olbia, Cefalù and Cortina d'Ampezzo are all among the most sought after destinations.

Other global cities that appeal to Canadian travelers range from completely exotic cities like Tokyo to down-to-earth cities like Cleveland, Ohio.
