Winnipeg's natural areas are starting their annual controlled burn

Controlled burning plays a key role in grassland conservation and restoration. Without fire, these endangered plant communities are under attack by weeds. The City of Winnipeg has been conducting controlled burns on its tallgrass prairies since 1986, demonstrating a long-term commitment to maintaining the health and vitality of these ecosystems.

For more information on controlled burns, residents are encouraged to visit the City of Winnipeg's official website and navigate to the “Controlled Burns” section.
