Winnipeg police lay down their weapons after a downtown shooting

Assault with Weapon Investigation – Arrest: C24-82393

WINNIPEG – NEWS – On April 15, 2024, at approximately 12:45 p.m., downtown patrol officers responded to Winnipeg Hospital in reference to a 56-year-old man who had been shot.

The investigation revealed that the victim had gone to meet a friend at an address in the 800 block of William Avenue that night. After the impact, the victim was shot through the door and seriously injured his upper body. The victim fled and was taken to the hospital, and that's when the police learned about the incident.

Members of the Tactical Support Team responded to the 800 block of William Avenue when a male and female suspect emerged and were taken into custody. A third suspect, an adult male, was inside the residence for some time; however, he was safely arrested.

The investigation was continued by the officers of the Department of Combating Serious Crimes.

At approximately 1:10 p.m., police officers conducted a search operation at the address, where a modified rifle and a wheelie loaded with ammunition were found and confiscated.

Addison Jay LAROCQUE, 25 the following charges were laid:

– Deliberate discharge of restricted firearms or prohibited firearms

– Assault with a weapon

– Knowingly possessing firearms is not allowed

– Possess illegal firearms or restricted weapons

– Failure to comply with the conditions of the release order x 7

– Possession of a firearm, restricted/prohibited weapon or ammunition in violation of a probation order x 2

– Possession of prohibited or restricted firearms with ammunition

Peyton GOTT, 23, the following charges were laid:

– Deliberate discharge of restricted firearms or prohibited firearms

– Assault with a weapon

– Knowingly possessing firearms is not allowed

– Possess illegal firearms or restricted weapons

– Possession of a firearm, restricted/prohibited weapon or ammunition in violation of a probation order x 2

– Possession of prohibited or restricted firearms with ammunition

Summer YOUNG, 20 years old, the following charges were laid:

– Deliberate discharge of restricted firearms or prohibited firearms

– Assault with a weapon

– possession of firearms without permission

– Possess illegal firearms or restricted weapons

– Possession of prohibited or restricted firearms with ammunition

All three were imprisoned in a temporary detention facility.
