Winnipeg house fire under control, no injuries

A two-story residence in the 300 block of Pacific Avenue was on fire earlier this evening. Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service (WFPS) crews responded immediately to reports of the fire at 4:50 p.m.

Upon arrival, crews observed smoke coming from the building. An external fire attack was launched first to fight the flames. Once conditions improved and safety was ensured, firefighters entered the residence to extinguish the remaining fire. Less than an hour after the initial report, the situation was brought under control at 17:27.

Fortunately, all residents were evacuated before firefighters arrived. There are no casualties.

The city social assistance group was mobilized to provide emergency assistance to displaced residents. Now they are working to provide temporary shelter to the fire victims.

It is not yet possible to calculate the damage caused. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
