Three things – the pilots will tear the ice at home

CONTROLLING THE PUCK IN THE SECOND PHASE

Winnipeg didn't care about the puck in the second period and took a 3-1 lead. The Jets couldn't get the puck deep until Yanni Gourde made it 3-2 at 5:11. Then at 18:13 of the middle frame, a turnover inside the Jets blueline gave Seattle a 2-on-oh, Gourd passed to Ty Cartier, who tied the game at three.

TURNING HIM INTO THIRD PLACE

To their credit, the Jets got their game back in the third period. They didn't give Seattle much of a chance, allowing just one dangerous scoring opportunity in the final frame. Winnipeg's second power play unit then went to work with Jared McCann in the box, Nikolaj Ehlers spotted Toffoli in the slot and he stepped forward with his backhand to score the eventual game winner. Toffoli is just shy of matching his career high of 34 goals last season.

“His patience with the puck is very good. And he's going to hit the right spots to get that shot,” Ehlers said.

“That's why he scored so many goals in this league. So I think it's fun to play with him.”
