Three teens arrested for sexual assault in hockey 'hazing incident' – Winnipeg Free Press

Three teenagers were arrested Monday on sexual assault charges in connection with a “hazing incident” on a hockey team.

Manitoba RCMP said Tuesday there were two incidents of hazing involving five new men on the force in November and this January. The deceased were 15 and 16 years old.

The incident was reported to the police on February 20.

Three arrested children are 17 years old. Two men were arrested for sexual assault with a weapon, sexual assault and forcible confinement. Another was arrested for sexual assault and battery.

All participating teenagers were team players.

Both incidents happened at a Winnipeg hotel while the Pembina Valley High School team was in Winnipeg to play in tournaments, the RCMP said in a news release.

“We have been working closely with the schools, the Prairie Spirit School Division and the coaches to determine what happened and move the investigation forward,” said Manitoba RCMP spokeswoman Tara Seale.

“This type of behavior – violent and offensive in nature – is unacceptable and the three young men involved will be held criminally responsible.”

The three suspects were released with a June 10 court hearing in Winnipeg.
