These Montreal tourist attractions have been ranked as one of the “most boring” places in Canada

As Canada's second largest city, Montreal is a major tourist destination – no wonder if you've ever strolled through the Old Port during the summer. In fact, the Great White North is full describe the beautiful landscapes and unforgettable places that attract millions of travelers every year.

But some of Canada's most popular tourist destinations are disappointing visitors, with Montreal taking two spots in the top five, according to a new study.

To compile the list, language learning platform Preply analyzed more than 130 tourist attractions from 29 Canadian cities, each with at least 1,000 Tripadvisor reviews.

One-, two-, and three-star reviews were classified as a “disappointing” experience, while four- and five-star reviews were classified as a “positive” experience. Preply says it used this ratio to calculate the percentage of negative reviews and then compile the ratings.

At the top of Canada's “most disappointing” chart is Ontario's Marineland, a controversial zoo and theme park in Niagara Falls, with 55.36% disappointing reviews. Although technically only closed for the season, there has been speculation that Marineland may close soon after allegations of animal cruelty have surfaced over the years, but Marineland has denied the claims.

In second place is Montreal's La Ronde theme park with 51.86% disapproving reviews.

“Unfortunately, despite the fun rides and roller coasters, this attraction may disappoint some tourists. Reviews often express concerns about long wait times and high prices affecting the overall experience,” reads Prepli's summary of La Ronde's findings.

Unfortunately for our city pride, two other Montreal attractions made the top ten: the Olympic Park (30.80%) and the Biodome (21.86%). Narrow it down to the top 20 and Montreal makes the list once again, with Rue Sainte-Catherine in 16th place.
