The Montreal Canadiens have signed Luke Tuch to an entry-level contract

Montreal Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes has announced that the club has agreed to terms with 2020 second-round pick Luke Tuch on a two-year, entry-level contract starting in 2024-25.

Tuch spent the 2023-24 campaign with the Boston University Terriers in the NCAA, where he had 10 goals and 20 assists for 30 points in 39 games, ranking sixth among Terriers skaters in goals, assists and points. Tuch spent the last four years at Boston University, where he had 71 points, 31 goals and 40 assists in 121 career games. In the 2022-23 campaign, he helped lead the Terriers to the NCAA Hockey East championship along with Canadiens defenseman Lane Hutson.

The Syracuse, New York product was originally selected No. 47 overall in the 2020 NHL Draft and spent a season with the U.S. Under-18 National Team during his draft year as part of the National Team Development Program. He scored 15 goals and 30 points in 47 games.

Internationally, Tuch made two appearances for Team USA at the World Under-17 Hockey Championship, scoring one goal in five games, and the next at the IIHF Men's World Championship, scoring one goal in four games.

The 22-year-old is the younger brother of Buffalo Sabers forward Alex Tuch, who also played Buffalo Jr. as a teenager. Grew up playing in the Sabers program.

Montreal has now signed four players from its 2020 draft class, including Canadian defenseman Kaiden Goulet and Laval Rocket forward Sean Farrell and goalie Jakub Dobes.

The Canadiens have a 30-36-14 record heading into a back-to-back set of games tonight and Tuesday against the Detroit Red Wings to end the 2023-24 regular season.
